Challenge

Founded in Melbourne in 2012, Australian beauty brand Bondi Sands, offers salon-quality self-tanning formulas, as well as a range of sun-care and skincare products.

Bondi Sands were facing restrictions due to retail issues. Limited advertising was allocated to product launches across saturated markets where awareness was low (skin care). Incorrect advertising strategy meant they run out early in the day, which resulted in reduced sales, this lead to less budget being allocated to ads, causing a negative cycle.

Our approach

We focused on fixing the listings and buybox issues, followed by a comprehensive full funnel ads strategy. Budget was limited at the outset so we utilised AMC data to understand the most efficient strategies to grow new customer acquisition. This led to increased investment across all ad channels; Sponsored Brands, DSP & Video and allowed us to utilise bespoke creatives during key events.

Results

Buybox allocation surged from 40% to 90%. YoY total sales increased by 260%, market share 70% and NTB% 63%. We cultivated a new audience base and boosted struggling categories. Suncare Market share increased by 150% YoY and Skincare by 50% YoY (both new categories and saturated markets).
